Salzburg-Stadt – carpentry in the heart of the old town is on fire

Early on Wednesday morning, the Salzburg professional fire brigade had to move out to a delicate operation. At around three in the morning, a fire broke out in a carpenter’s workshop on Kaigasse, which borders on the Chiemseehof, operations manager Thomas Schauer reports to the “Krone”.

“A resident called and said he could smell the burning,” says Schauer. The firefighters fought the flames with 16 men and four vehicles. “We gained access and started the fire-fighting attack with heavy respiratory protection,” reports the operations manager. In the meantime, ten residents have been evacuated from the old town house. The operation finally came to an end around 5:30 a.m. “Nobody got hurt. The damage is limited to the carpentry in the vault,” says Schauer. After the operation, the residents of the house were allowed to return to their apartments. Why the fire broke out in the old town house is still unclear. The professional fire brigade is currently conducting a fire inspection. This article is continuously updated.
