Tourism Tasendsassa Samih Sawiris (64) strikes again. He wants to build two marinas on Lake Uri. This is what the “Luzerner Zeitung” writes. Isidor Baumann, who oversees the project for Sawiris, confirmed the report at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. The old Council of States said that the idea has been working on for half a year.
According to the project idea, two so-called marinas are to be realized. These are artificial bays in the interior of the country where boats could dock, said Baumann.
Ports with hotels and pickling areas
Three-star hotels, apartments and restaurants are to be built around the bays. Baumann emphasized that the planned systems should be open to everyone and that there should be lively activity there.
According to Baumann, the marinas are a personal project of Sawiris, separate from his real estate and hotel company Orascom. Sawiris is closely connected to the water and has a boat himself on Lake Uri, he said about the investor’s motivation.
Environmental organizations on board
The area of the former explosives factory in Isleten (Seedorf municipality) and an area at a gravel company in Flüelen were considered as possible locations for the projects. Baumann said that the landowners had already been contacted as part of the exploration. They have also already sat down at the table with the environmental organizations. However, versatile coordination is still required in order to realize the project.
The mayor of Flüelen is quoted in the CH Media report as saying that the marina project would meet the requirements of the structure plan. The mayor of Seedorf classifies the idea as a possible scenario for the further development of the area in Isleten. (pbe / SDA)
