Samsung would have given up digging a notch dedicated to storing a stylus in the chassis of its future foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
From Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5, it says everything and its opposite. In November 2022, it was rumored that the Korean manufacturer was studying the feasibility of a notch that would allow the S Pen to be stored in the foldable smartphone. The famous leaker Ice Universe claimed in January 2023 that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will finally get rid of the ugly crease on the screenwhile Samsung showed off new technology that suggests the device could feature a screen that bends in both directions.

Today it is rumored that Samsung has definitely renounced to integrate a notch for the S Pen in the body of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The company has not been able to find the solution to offer a thin foldable smartphone with an integrated stylus. Such a decision was certainly predictable, but it will still disappoint the many followers of the late Galaxy Note. They will still be able to use the S Pen with the foldable smartphone, but they will have to buy the stylus separately, and store it separately. It’s a shame when you remember that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is sold for no less than 1400 €, and that the price of smartphones continues to increase.

Add to this that it is rumored that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 will not be as powerful as one might think and we can say that Samsung may have some concerns about the competitiveness of its devices in a foldable smartphone market where competitors’ offers are always more attractive.
