Samsung Galaxy S21 and Realme GT Master Edition: green light for Android 13, but not at the same time

Android’s thirteenth major update won’t arrive until next fall, starting with Pixel smartphones at Google. But the major manufacturers are preparing for this deadline, with perhaps a good surprise from Samsung.

This week, Google is holding its annual developer conference. The opportunity for product and software announcements around the Android, Wear OS and Fuschia ecosystems. The opening presentation scheduled for May 11 will notably make it possible to discuss Android 13, the first beta version of which is already available for owners of Pixel 4, 5 and 6 smartphones. The stable and final version of the OS Google will arrive at the start of the school year and it is once again the Pixel smartphones, starting with the probable Pixel 7, which will be the first.

On the side of other Android phone manufacturers, we are busy preparing for the deployment of this update. And if we know that some brands are more reactive than others in this exercise, there could be a good surprise on the side of Samsung. Indeed, the SamMobile site recently announced that the South Korean manufacturer could introduce the beta version of its personalized One UI 5.0 overlay based on Android 13 from July. A schedule which, if confirmed, would be almost three months ahead of the deployment of One UI 4 which took place in mid-September 2021. Remember that Samsung recently indicated that it will offer four OS updates major and five years of security updates for its Galaxy S smartphones from S21, Galaxy Z from Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 as well as Tab S8 tablets.

Three Android updates for the Realme GTs

Android 13 is also coming to Realme, and in particular the GT range. The excellent GT Master Edition is eligible for the Realme UI 4.0 update based on Android 13. But according to Realmiupdates, the latter will not be deployed until next year. An altogether logical shift knowing that Realme UI 3.0 (Android 12) only began to be deployed on the GT Master Edition last March.
