Good news, the S24 and S24+ would cost less than expected. The basic S24 Ultra would increase the bill by a few euros compared to the S23 Ultra of equivalent rank, on the other hand; nothing scandalous, and you will understand why.

Like every year, the first weeks of 2024 will be marked by several tech events: fans of desktop computers and laptops are particularly waiting for the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) at the beginning of January, while smartphone enthusiasts scrutinize the announcement of the Galaxy S24 by Samsung, considered by many to be the standard bearers of Android models.

The publication of the complete technical sheets for the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra has also confirmed most of the conjectures made so far regarding the characteristics of these models. The big question (concern?) now concerns prices. A previous leak suggested a lack of inflation, with Galaxy S24s selling at the same prices as the S23s. Ultimately, the reality would be a little different: better than conjectured for the S24 and S24+, but more nuanced for the S24 Ultra.

S24 and S24+ a few tens of euros less expensive than their ancestors

Indeed, according to information from Michel Groenheijde of Galaxy Club, the entry prices for the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be lower than those of the S23 of similar ranks at the start of their marketing. On the other hand, the starting price of the S24 Ultra, the flagship of the series, will be slightly increased.

Let’s start with the good news. According to our colleague, the Galaxy S24 with 128 GB of storage will be available from 899 euros; customers wanting the version with 256 GB of internal space will have to pay 959 euros. For comparison, the S23 debuted at 959 euros.

Still according to Michel Groenheijde, for the Galaxy S24+ with 256 GB, you will have to spend 1,149 euros, and 1,269 euros for the model with 512 GB. The S23+ was trading from 1,199 euros when it was released.

A heavier bill for the “basic” S24 Ultra

While the basic versions of the S24 and S24+ would cost 60 euros and 50 euros less respectively, the Galaxy S24 Ultra would take the opposite path with an additional cost of 30 euros compared to its ancestor.

More precisely, the source provides a price of 1,449 euros for the S24 Ultra 256 GB, while the S23 Ultra with the same capacity cost 1,419 euros.

This price increase, however, has a certain legitimacy: the S24 Ultra will have a minimum of 12 GB of RAM, and no longer only 8 GB.

Moreover, for the S24 Ultra 512 GB/12 GB, Samsung will reduce the bill by 30 euros: this model would have a selling price of 1,569 euros compared to 1,599 for the equivalent S23 Ultra.

The general trend: falling prices

Below you will find a summary of the different prices depending on the versions. An important clarification, however: as the source points out, these amounts will not be strictly identical everywhere in Europe.

Our colleague uses the prices in the Netherlands as a reference; however, they differ slightly from those practiced in France. For the S23 Ultra 512 GB mentioned previously, for example, this model cost 1,579 euros among our neighbors (compared to 1,599 in France). It is therefore possible that it will be necessary to add a few dozen additional euros depending on the country. But the general idea is this: slightly less expensive S24 and S24+, a slightly more expensive “entry-level” S24 Ultra.

  • Galaxy S24: 128 GB: 899 euros/256 GB: 959 euros
  • Galaxy S24+: 256 GB: 1,149 euros/512 GB: 1,269 euros
  • Galaxy S24 Ultra: 256 GB: 1,449 euros/512 GB: 1,569 euros/1 TB: 1,809 euros
