Samsung has announced that it will introduce a new health feature with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6. In a press release, Samsung announced that it had received approval for irregular heart rhythm notifications.
The function was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a US authority responsible for the approval and market surveillance of food, drugs, cosmetics and medical devices. According to Samsung, cardiovascular diseases are still among the leading causes of death.

With the integration of the new health function, the manufacturer now wants to give users the opportunity to keep a better eye on their own heart health. The warning system also kicks in when abnormally high or low heart rates are detected.
The check takes place in the background after the function has been activated. If a certain number of consecutive measurements are irregular, the watch will sound an alarm.
The “Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification” (IHRN) feature will also be delivered via update for the current models, but it is not yet known when this will happen. All Smartwatch models from the Galaxy Watch 4 should get the feature.
