Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: top performance & good camera

The main focus of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is probably its folding technology. When folded, the smartphone is 155 mm high and 68 mm wide, when unfolded it is 131 mm wide and 9.6 mm thick. However, the folding feature means that a fold sits in the middle of the main display, separating apps in half when in full-screen mode. Not all users like that.

The main display is huge: 7.6 inches. The resolution is 2,176 x 1,812 pixels with a pixel density of 377 ppi. The maximum refresh rate of 120 Hertz enables smooth scrolling. The front display is 6.2 inches, with a resolution of 2,316 x 904 pixels and a pixel density of 400 ppi.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (SM8475) ensures excellent performance. The USB-C interface supports the USB 3.2 standard and the dual SIM function 5G Internet. The smartphone is IPX8-certified and wireless charging is also possible. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 has three cameras: a main camera and two selfie cameras. The image quality of all three cameras is good overall.

The battery has a capacity of 4,400 mAh and lasts 9:28 hours in the online runtime test. It takes about 1:52 hours to fully charge. You get a USB-C-to-USB-C cable as an accessory, but unfortunately no power adapter. The price of around 1,800 euros is not exactly low.

Our conclusion at the time of testing:

“The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 once again impresses in the test with its multitasking options and the hardware has also been updated. The large folding display offers some innovations such as a toolbar and the option to use three apps at the same time that also works smoothly, the high-end processor Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 delivers a lot of power. There are improvements to the display and camera.Only Samsung can’t get much more out of the battery, so the energy-hungry folding display remains a certain limitation. All in all, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a top phone, but the folding mechanism comes at a price.”
