  • Samsung is now also distributing its smart TV OS Tizen to external manufacturers
  • The first cooperations will start this year.
  • The three premiere partners are Atamataca, HKC and Tempo

In the year of its tenth anniversary, Samsung is bringing the smart TV platform Tizen OS to televisions from external manufacturers for the first time. The first partner companies to be equipped are Akai, Bauhn, Linsar, RCA, Vispera, Sunny and Axen.

Of the brands mentioned, Akai is probably the most familiar to you from the hi-fi realm. The fact that the names are hardly known is due to the fact that the expansion of Samsung Tizen OS is initially taking place in regions where the first three sales partners Atamataca (Sunny and Axen), HKC (RCA and Vispera) and Tempo are active.

In these countries, the cooperation will start in 2022

These include Turkey, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia, whereby the cooperation with Tempo and its brands Akai, Bauhn and Linsar on the fifth continent is said to have already started, according to Samsung. The other countries will have their turn in 2022. Other markets and partners will also be announced by the end of the year.

Samsung Tizen OS is based on Linux

Tizen OS formally offers itself to be implemented in devices from other manufacturers. The platform is based on Linux from the start. The foundation behind the open-source operating system has worked closely with Samsung on the development of Tizen OS, but in the ten years since the first version was released, this hasn’t really resulted in the operating system becoming widespread.

Also interesting…

That could now change with the expansion to non-Samsung devices.
