Galaxy Unpacked: when Samsung reviews its habits
This year is particularly important for Samsung if the Korean manufacturer is to maintain its leading position in the folding smartphone market. If, since 2019, many competitors have joined the battle, this new year marks the arrival of Google with its Pixel Fold, even if it will not be marketed in our regions. Note also that OnePlus should also land with two models of folding smartphones, like what Samsung is already doing with its Flip and Fold ranges.
It is therefore in this context that the group will (probably) give us an appointment at the end of July, a little earlier than usual, to present its Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5 to us. For the first time, the event is set to be held in Seoul, South Korea. We also learn through The Verge that starting this year, Unpacked folding conferences will be held in selected cities based on the designated theme for each event.
An event more than ever focused on the new folding smartphones
This year, Samsung intends to take advantage of its summer conference to put the package around its future smartphones with foldable screens. In an official statement, the Korean recently claimed that ” the foldable category embodies Samsung’s philosophy of delivering boundary-pushing innovation to reshape the future of mobile experiences “. A message that could not be clearer, which demonstrates the importance of this market for the manufacturer. Finally, note that if the giant has chosen the city of Seoul for its 2023 summer conference, it is for the simple and good reason that it is considered ” an emerging epicenter in the folding category “.
From what we know, the Z Flip5 should feature a larger external display and the Z Fold5 meanwhile should house a noticeably more discreet fold when fully folded. If folding smartphones will therefore be the stars of this event, we should still discover other devices, including the famous Galaxy Watch 6. Rumors evoke the date of July 26 for the Galaxy Unpacked this summer. However, we will wait for confirmation from Samsung before noting the date in our diaries.

Good point for the external screen that we consider very practical when the smartphone is folded. We also appreciate the overall processing power available, even if it is sometimes limited so as not to overheat the smartphone. However, we deeply regret the non-supply of a charger with the smartphone, especially at this price level.
