Samsung has unveiled its new high-end soundbar, the HW-Q990B, compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Chromecast, AirPlay and Bluetooth audio.
After announcing, last January, a first premium soundbar for 2022, the Samsung HW-S800B, the Korean manufacturer presented, this Sunday, a new particularly high-end model, the Samsung HW-Q990B.
This soundbar is particularly immersive with up to 11.1.4 channels. To do this, it has a total of 22 speakers. However, unlike the solutions offered by Philips, Bose or Sonos, these are divided between the sound bar itself, the subwoofer and the remote rear speakers. Concretely, this will therefore make it possible to take advantage of 11 horizontal voices, a subwoofer and four vertical channels for spatialized audio for a total power of 656 W.
Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Bluetooth audio, Chromecast, Airplay and Spotify Connect
On the spatial audio side, the Samsung HW-S800B is compatible not only with the Dolby Atmos standard, but also with DTS:X. Regarding audio formats, it can also enjoy sound in Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos for Music. The soundbar can also act as a Bluetooth speaker with SBC codec support for music transmission. Regarding connectors, the Samsung HW-Q990B benefits from two HDMI inputs and an eARC-compatible HDMI output. The soundbar also benefits from compatibility with the HDMI CEC standard and also includes an optical input. Wi-Fi is also included with compatibility with Chromecast, Spotify Connect and AirPlay 2. However, no voice assistant is integrated to control connected objects by voice.
It is especially associated with a Samsung television that the Q990B will do well. The sound bar benefits from Samsung’s Q-Symphony function. Concretely, associated with a compatible Samsung television, it will take advantage of the television speakers to add additional voices in order to further improve the audio spatialization.
The Samsung HW-Q990B soundbar will be available from April 14. It will be offered in France only in black at a price of 1599 euros.
