If you own one of the following Android phones from Samsung, Google or Xiaomi, you should soon think about buying a new smartphone:
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold

The reason? The cell phones mentioned will reach the end of support in 2023 or have already reached it. Accordingly, they no longer receive Android updates, which endangers the security of the device and your data.

Three years after the release of the first generation of its foldable smartphones, Samsung is now stopping the updates for these smartphones. There will be no update to Android 13. The device had many teething problems that could only be ironed out in the following versions. Nevertheless, it was an absolute revolution in the smartphone market, because Samsung was the first manufacturer to show that foldable smartphones are possible and suitable for the masses.
As an alternative to this device, we recommend the current Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 or the slightly cheaper, but already a year old Galaxy Z Fold 3. The devices differ only slightly, but both will continue to receive software updates for two to three years. The current model is available from 1,799 euros, while the Z Fold 3 only costs around 1,100 euros.

Another smartphone from Samsung that no longer receives an update: The Galaxy S10 is also no longer scheduled to be updated to Android 13. The device is getting on in years, but was one of the most successful smartphones of its time thanks to the good camera and the excellent display.
If you still want the best of the best from Samsung, we recommend the Galaxy S22 for around 600 euros. Here you also get great image quality from the camera, a nice and bright display – and even support for Android updates until 2025. Alternatively, you can also grab last year’s Galaxy S21 FE if your budget isn’t that high anymore. That only costs you around 450 euros.
