Samsung’s connected ring could be released in July

With the Galaxy Ring, Samsung could put the spotlight on connected rings, which still lack popularity compared to connected watches and bracelets. The product was made official in January, simultaneously with the Galaxy S24.

After smartphones and watches, will Apple and Samsung one day compete in the rings sector? According to ETNews, a renowned Korean media outlet, Apple was very interested in connected jewelry, while Samsung made its first Galaxy Ring official in January 2024.

In an article published on February 20, the Korean newspaper reveals some juicy information about the Galaxy Ring, while Samsung was content with rare images and a name in January. The Galaxy Ring was the surprise of the Unpacked conference, but the stars of the show were the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy AI artificial intelligence.

8 sizes, lots of sensors and a July launch

According to ETNews, Samsung will organize a second Unpacked event at the end of July, as usual. It is on this occasion that the brand will officially unveil the Galaxy Ring, which would be capable of measuring heart rate, performing electrocardiograms or tracking sleep despite its very small size. The Galaxy Ring would also serve as a remote control for its other devices (its TV?) and could make Samsung Pay payments.

To fit all fingers, Samsung could launch eight Galaxy Rings, in as many different sizes. The brand would be convinced that this product, more discreet than a connected watch, would be more practical for constantly monitoring one’s health, since users would not have to remove it. The Galaxy Ring is seen by the brand as the ultimate strategy to become a giant in connected health.

By 2031, analysts believe that the connected watch market could explode, becoming 10 times larger than today (Oura, the number 1 in the sector, sells its ring between 329 and 399 euros). To be successful, Samsung will undoubtedly have to succeed in slashing prices. Why spend a lot on a connected ring when you can have a watch at the same price with the same functions and a screen? Regarding Apple’s presence, ETNews is based on patent filings. Nothing says in February 2024 that the brand will launch an Apple Ring.
