The announcement of the candidacy of the young football retiree comes as Fecafoot has been in crisis for several months. The current president, Seidou Mbombo Njoya, was elected in 2018, but his election, contested by several players in Cameroonian football, was canceled in mid-January by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Despite everything, he remained in office, with the mission of working on the organization of new elections. This retention was badly received by a fringe of sports players who then decided to appoint another president at the head of Fecafoot. However, this did not benefit from the support of the authorities, the African Football Confederation (CAF) and FIFA. The election of the new president is scheduled for December.
