Samurai Shodown: SNK still does not keep its promises, an expected feature postponed again

Released in 2019, Samurai Shodown brought the famous license of versus fighting of SNK and was then entitled to follow-up until the summer of 2021, with no less than three Season Passwhich concluded with the addition of Baiken. Last year, duringEVO 2022the developers announced excellent news, namely the upcoming implementation of netcode rollback, a good way to bring online multiplayer back to life within the community. It was then a question of spring 2023, but there have been quite a few complications since then. According to the latest news, it was finally supposed to be added in September, except it’s the 30th and he’s still not here. Rest assured, the project is still in progress and SNK spoke out this week to keep us informed.

The update of netcode rollback is therefore postponed again, this time without a communicated launch window, which is not bad in the end. Difficult to know if it will be released this year, because a new CBT is scheduled for October on PC and the developers will notify then. It seems that the implementation is more complicated than expected.

To ensure that the Samurai Shodown netcode rollback update is of the highest quality, we have decided to push its release back from the previously planned September 2023 launch window.

We are deeply sorry for this additional delay, as we know that many of you are impatiently awaiting these new features.

In line with the release date change and our continued commitment to quality assurance, we plan to hold another community beta test on Steam in October this year. More information about the test will be provided as it becomes available.

The new netcode rollback release window will be announced in due course, pending the results of the above test.

Thank you for your support as we do our best to make Samurai Shodown a smoother and more enjoyable online experience for everyone. We truly appreciate your continued support and enthusiasm.

As a reminder, THE netcode rollback of Samurai Shodown is expected in the PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC versions (Steam), but not on Switch. You can buy it from €13.42 on Amazon in its basic edition, knowing that a Special Edition on Xbox with part of DLC is also on sale at €28.02.
