Sandhausen shocked SCP very late
Nuremberg’s cracker cemented the hope of advancement
Nuremberg leaves many chances in the 2nd Bundesliga against Holstein Kiel, but a hammer in the middle of the second half makes everything clear. The FCN is stalking the promotion ranks. SC Paderborn looks like the sure winner in rainy Sandhausen for a long time – until the 93rd minute comes.
1. FC Nuremberg – Holstein Kiel 2: 1 (1: 0)
1. FC Nürnberg has reported back after difficult weeks in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Franks deservedly won 2: 1 (1: 0) against the last strong Holstein Kiel on the 16th matchday, remain in the chasing group and are only two points behind the direct promotion position for the time being.
After a strong start to the season, Nürnberg had lost three of the last four league games, but Manuel Schäffler (6th) brought the club into the lead early on. In front of empty ranks Erik Shuranow (62.) increased with a spectacular goal in the second half. Julian Korb (88th) managed to connect the storks. Kiel, actually on the upswing with two wins from the previous three games, is now moving closer to the relegation points.
The hosts’ first shot on goal led to the 1-0, Schäffler took advantage of a confusing situation from close range. As a result, Nuremberg remained the clear game-determining team and had further opportunities until the break. The team of coach Robert Klauss designed the second half in a similarly superior manner, Shuranow’s hit with a forceful shot from an acute angle was the logical consequence.
SV Sandhausen – SC Paderborn 1: 1 (0: 1)
SC Paderborn missed the leap to third place. The Ostwestfalen did not get beyond a 1: 1 (1: 0) at SV Sandhausen and have been unbeaten for five games. Marcel Mehlem (5th) scored the early opening goal for the guests. In the 17th minute, Pascal Testroet failed with a weak hand penalty shot at goalkeeper Jannik Huth and missed the great chance to equalize 1-1. Bashkim Ajdini (90 + 3) was then responsible for the late equalizer.
Thus, the SCP also missed the sixth three-point in an away game this season. In contrast, the SVS are still without a win at home and remain the weakest home team in the 2nd division. The SCP lacked a strong offensive duo in the yellow-banned Sven Michel (13 goals this season) and the injured Felix Platte (six hits). But the early opening goal brought self-confidence into the actions of the Paderborn team. Sandhausen found it difficult to embarrass the good staggered defense of the guests. In the second half, the hosts increased their efforts and were able to strengthen their offensive game. The reward was compensation.
Hansa Rostock – FC Ingolstadt 1: 1 (0: 1)
Despite numerous failures, the bottom line FC Ingolstadt has given a sign of life. The Schanzer, decimated by several corona cases, fought for a 1: 1 (1: 1) in the promoted duel at Hansa Rostock. With seven points now, the Ingolstadt team are still beaten after eleven games in a row without a win. Rostock, on the other hand, missed their third win in the last five games, but remains in the middle of the table with 19 points.
First, Thomas Keller (41st) scored the tenth goal of the season from bottom of the table, then Hansa striker John Verhoek (49th) added his tenth goal of the season. On Friday, Ingolstadt announced that after seven positive corona tests, a total of 15 people from the sports sector were affected by domestic quarantine.
Rostock started strong in front of 1000 spectators and was close to the lead: First Verhoek hit the post (2nd), then a deflected shot from Calogero Rizzuto landed on the lower edge of the crossbar and the ball jumped on the goal line (3rd). But Hansa did not hold out this early dominance, and the urge to attack subsided. The 0: 1 came as a surprise: Keller circled a free kick from about 25 meters into the corner. After the break, the hosts’ quick start was repeated, but this time Verhoek hit the net with his head.
