  • “Sandman” on Netflix will get a 2nd season.
  • Netflix and comics creator Neil Gaiman confirmed the renewal of the hit fantasy series on Twitter.
  • In the new episodes we get to know more of Dream’s siblings and it’s back to hell.

“Sandman” started on Netflix in early August 2022 and topped the charts on the streaming service for several weeks. The reviews were almost always positive, so it seemed that an extension was right around the corner.

Strangely enough, it took a full three months for Netflix to finally declare the fans’ concerns unfounded and officially renewed “Sandman” for a second season. Neil Gaiman, on whose comics the fantasy series is based, previously explained that Netflix had to evaluate the number of viewers in detail, since “Sandman” was not streamed by most viewers in one go, but over several days.

So far it is not known when Season 2 of “Sandman” will be released, a release in 2024 is likely here. However, showrunner Allan Heinberg has already revealed that Season 2 will contain the comic story arcs “The Time of the Mist” and “Across the Sea to Heaven” will treat.

This resolves the cliffhanger at the end of Season 1, in which Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) plans to get revenge on her brother Dream (Tom Sturridge). We’ll also meet more of Dream’s siblings and see fan-favorites like Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) again.

Find out more about the upcoming Season 2 stories in our preview. In addition, we have extensively compared the 1st season of “Sandman” with the comic templates and tell you everything that has changed.
