This was revealed in a farewell post from her sister Gesine Bullock-Prado, 53, which read, among other things: “ALS is a cruel disease, but there is some comfort in knowing that it is in my amazing sister and the group of nurses who care for her put together and who helped her look after him in her house had the best caretakers.”
2. Mother Helga died far too early from colon cancer in 2000
Sandra and her younger sister had to cope with the death of their mother Helga Meyer in their 30s. The German opera singer died on April 4, 2000 at the age of 58 as a result of colon cancer. Sandra was 35 and Gesine 30 years old.
It was only in June 2023 that the TV personality and pastry chef pointed out the importance of the health check-up in an Instagram post. Gesine wrote: “It’s time for a colonoscopy…again! I’ve had quite a few in my life as my mother died far too early from colon cancer. So I want to encourage you to get regular check-ups!”
3. In 2018, Sandra first lost her father and then her two dogs: “It was a bad few weeks”
When Sandra Bullock was supposed to present an award to girlfriend and “Ocean’s Eight” co-star Sarah Paulson, 48, at the “25th ELLE Woman in Hollywood Awards” in October 2018, she broke out.

She said: “I wanted to write a nice speech with all the things I like about Sarah Paulson. But it’s been a pretty bad couple of weeks for me. My father died, my two dogs died. […] That’s why I don’t feel good.” The actress left open exactly what John W. Bullock and her foster dogs Poppy and Ruby had.
4. Affairs and No Regrets: The public drama about Bullock’s husband Jesse James
Sandra Bullock had actually reached the zenith of her career in 2010 and was happier privately than ever with Jesse James. On March 7, she accepted the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in the drama “The Blind Side” in the presence of her husband and in front of an audience of millions.
