The guide to sanitary rules has just been sent by the government and it could well change our habits in the cinema, as well for cinema operators, employees and spectators. The French cinema federation explained in a press release: "The objective of this health guide is to give cinemas the necessary instruments to be able to resume their activity while respecting the indications established by the health authorities, for a period which will be deemed necessary. These instruments may be revised depending on the evolution of the health situation. " Validated by the Ministries of Labor, Solidarity, Health, Economy and Culture, this guide may change depending on the evolution of the health situation.

In the hall and circulation areas

The exterior doors of the cinemas must remain open as much as possible during the day in order to circulate the air. A traffic direction will have to be established in order to avoid crowding of spectators in the queues which, moreover, will have to respect the social distance of one meter. Plexiglas or the wearing of a visor between staff and the public will be put in place and online ticket sales will be favored in order to avoid waiting for the crowd and contactless payment.

Wearing a mask will be recommended in movie theaters and hydroalcoholic gels will be available at the entrance. Surfaces regularly touched by spectators, i.e. the ramps and handrails of escalators, must be disinfected at least twice a day.

In the screening rooms

The rooms will have a capacity of 50%. People arriving together can sit next to each other, but care should be taken to keep a seat distance between the different groups of spectators. The mask will not be compulsory and, during the pre-session, advertising spots to raise awareness of social distancing and health rules will be broadcast on the screen of the cinema hall.

The schedules of the various screenings will be decided so that the spectators of the various screenings do not cross in order to avoid the crowd in the corridors and hall of the cinema. Air circulation, which will be managed by mechanical means, will be significant in cinemas. This is why there will be a much longer time between each session. It will therefore be expected that far fewer cinema screenings will be scheduled each day.
