Sarah Ferguson in New York: Her glamor look for mature skin

This photo of Sarah Ferguson has us gasping! But how did she do that? Here you can find out the secrets behind Sarah Ferguson’s beauty look and what makeup tips for mature skin we can learn from her.

Sarah Ferguson has been with many of us for half our lives. Her marriage to Prince Andrew in 1986 made her the center of royal attention and, despite the divorce, she remains a royal favorite to this day. Her natural style is also transferred to her beauty look: The Duchess of York often likes to appear without make-up, her hair casually knotted in a bun and with a smile on her lips. On other days, on festive occasions or official events, she also likes to enjoy glamor, which her make-up artist Clarissa Luna usually conjures up on her face. You can find out here which products she likes to use and which make-up tips you can learn from Sarah Ferguson.

Makeup tips for mature skin: Sarah Ferguson shows how it’s done

Aging gracefully is a description that fits Sarah Ferguson perfectly. On the face of the over 60-year-old there are life and smile wrinkles, sun autographs in the form of pigment spots and the skin above the eyes kisses the eyelids. All of these phenomena must be kept in mind when applying makeup for mature skin.

1. Preparing the skin

A rule of thumb is that shine makes the skin look plump, while a matte result tends to have the opposite effect. This principle was followed precisely with Sarah Ferguson: the light is reflected wonderfully on her cheeks and the rest of her skin also radiates youthfully. To achieve this result, extensive skin preparation is crucial.

Facial care

Fergie’s make-up artist therefore likes to use the Extra Firming Energy Day Cream from Clarins, which has a smoothing effect thanks to apricot kernel oil and is quickly absorbed into the skin. Care products formulated with grape seed oil, evening primrose oil or pomegranate seed oil are recommended for mature skin. They promote the formation of new cells and increase skin elasticity. Clarissa applies a drop of Rachel’s Plan Bee facial oil – also with apricot and grape seed oil – to the skin after the cream. It is particularly important that you apply it, ideally, an hour before you start making up, so that the foundation does not roll off later.

Eye care

You don’t actually need an extra eye cream. For very dry areas, Dr. Theiss evening primrose eyelid cream can help. Sarah’s makeup artist Clarissa Luna swears by the Rays Copper Eye Mask, which moisturizes thin skin and reduces puffiness. The eye pads, formulated with copper peptides, bakuchiol and niacinamide, are a great choice especially for mature skin – a luxurious product that you can treat yourself to on special occasions, but doesn’t have to.

Lip care

A lip mask before makeup works wonders. Because shine on the lips makes them look fuller. Fergie often wears Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care. Meadowfoam oil, an oil from the seeds of the marsh flower, is responsible for the silky, smooth skin feeling, while jojoba oil and shea butter nourish with valuable fatty acids. In addition to this product, you can also rely on the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

2. Makeup

When it comes to make-up, attention is also paid to light reflection for mature skin. Wrinkles are a challenge when applying make-up: If you use too much or too thickly formulated products, they slip into the wrinkles and accentuate them. The right product selection is crucial here.

complexion

Clarissa uses a skin tint from Beautyblender for Fergie’s skin. This is a liquid product that is very light on the skin and has light to medium coverage. You can also see with Sarah: her skin and her freckles shine through slightly. Her secret trick: She always puts a drop of facial oil into the foundation on the back of her hand. A skin tint like this is a very good choice for mature skin as it doesn’t slip into wrinkles much, hardly needs to be set with powder (this keeps the shine) and is formulated to be moisturizing. Powder foundations or matt, high-coverage products are not recommended for mature skin. If impurities or pigment spots need to be covered, it is best to do this selectively.

Concealer

Probably the most difficult step is concealer. Because we have the most movement around our eyes, which means there is a risk of them slipping into the wrinkles. Fixing with powder is therefore essential here. To do this, take a powder puff with loose powder – Clarissa likes to use Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder – and press it specifically into the under eye area. The most important thing here is to work the powder extensively into the skin. If you have enlarged pores on or next to your nose, you can also apply the powder specifically using the same technique.

Blush, bronzer and highlighter

Again, it’s all about consistency and glow. Creamy or liquid products are most flattering on mature skin. The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade Hope & Bliss is a real favorite of Sarah’s artist. A bronzer with a wonderful shine is the Fenty Beauty Body Sauce Luminizing Tint, which can also be applied to the décolleté. If you also want to add accents to the highest parts of the face with a highlighter, use Glow Mon Amour from L’Oréal.

Eye make up

The Duchess of York likes to wear black eyeliner and kohl – a choice that is certainly not ideal for every eye shape. If you have small eyes, it is better to avoid both and instead use shimmer eye shadows that are applied with the ring finger from the eyelid up to the eyebrows. This also applies to droopy eyelids. You can apply brown eyeliner very close to the upper lash line to optically thicken the lashes – mascara does the rest!

Don’t neglect your eyebrows. Her emphasized brows give Fergie’s beauty look that extra bit of freshness. With a micro-pencil such as the Slim’Matic Ultra Precise Brow Pencil from Catrice you can trace hairs perfectly. An eyebrow powder is also suitable for filling in quickly.

lips

Sarah Ferguson’s lipstick pairs perfectly with her blush – another tip we can learn from her. Because when the colors repeat, the make-up looks particularly harmonious. A matte lipstick lasts the longest – to still shine, you can dab your lip care over it.

3. Preserve

One stumbling block with this luminous make-up is clearly its durability. Matte products and powders generally last longer on the face, but would look crusty on mature and particularly dry skin. Therefore, rely on a setting spray: Clarissa uses the Fix’ Makeup from Clarins. An exceptionally good setting spray is The POREfessional Collection Super Setter from Benefit, which matts somewhat but still retains its shine. You can also apply such a spray between each make-up step on special occasions or throughout the day to refresh your skin.
