Scalebound: PlatinumGames would like to talk about the game again with Microsoft and appeals to Phil Spencer

It is now rare to see AAA projects aborted in the middle of their development, at least once they are made public. One of the latest examples that had caused a stir was Scalebounda massive action game driven by PlatinumGames On behalf of Microsoft. The post-mortem of this project has already been well reviewed, but one thing is certain, the studio and the builder did not leave angry, as Phil Spencer claimed in 2020. What if the idea of a resurrection for the game is still in the fantasy stage, PlatinumGames seems to be more than ever up for it.

A possible return for the game?

In an interview with IGN Japan (translated by VGC), Astushi InabaCEO of the studio, once again spoke about Scalebound. When asked if he and the studio would be willing to return to the game, he said:

Kamiya always wanted to do Scalebound. So we would like to have a real discussion with Microsoft. »

What Hideki Kamiyadirector of the game, adds:

We had worked on it a lot, and there’s no point in Microsoft keeping the game in its current state, so we’d like to do something about it (laughs). Phil! Let’s do it together! »

This is not the first time that the studio has mentioned the idea of returning to the game. In 2020 already, Atsushi Inaba declared that he wanted to work on the project again, but that it did not depend on PlatinumGames, because it is Microsoft who owns exploitation rights. This time, even if it’s in a humorous tone, the call is clearly made, and everything is in Microsoft’s hands.
