ScanWatch Nova: when Withings adopts the codes of diving watches

This is now a habit for Withings which, two years ago, proceeded in the same way by offering its classic ScanWatch in a Horizon model incorporating the codes of diving watches. The brand specializing in connected tocantes with a watchmaking look is today offering a “diving” iteration of its very recent ScanWatch 2, this time called ScanWatch Nova.

In addition to its slightly more luxurious appearance – it comes with a slightly more opulent metal bracelet than the silicone version of the ScanWatch 2, as well as with an FKM rubber strap – it gains a bezel (in stainless steel and ceramic) surrounding its screen and a black, blue or green background, in the spirit of diving watches. It should be noted, however, that this is not strictly speaking a diving watch, but a device inspired by this universe. The ScanWatch Nova thus benefits from water resistance of up to 10 ATM, compared to 5 ATM for the ScanWatch 2. It is only offered in a single 42 mm version, while the ScanWatch 2 is also available in 38 mm, and weighs a little heavier: count 63 grams instead of 52.6 grams, for equal dimensions.

Otherwise, the two watches are identical, and aim to monitor health indicators, sports sessions and sleep. There is a small 0.63 inch Oled screen and a sapphire glass protective window covering physical hands, since this model, like the previous ScanWatches, operates in a hybrid mode. The watch is connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth LE and hides multiple sensors (TempTech running constantly, heart rate, SpO2, ECG) useful for monitoring health and sport. An altimeter is also intended for those who practice outdoor activities. The ScanWatch Nova promises, like the ScanWatch 2, a battery life of 30 days and a charge in 2 hours.

The refined design of the ScanWatch Nova results in an increasing price: while the ScanWatch 2 costs €349.95 in its 42 mm version, the Nova model costs €599.95, which propels it into the price range of high-end smartwatches.
