Why is the "scarf for life" so important?
Conditions in Syria are getting worse and the humanitarian situation in north-west Syria is deteriorating. The UN has already warned of the worst humanitarian catastrophe of the 21st century. The children of Syria need more support and help than ever. Half of all Syrian children now know nothing more than war and everyday life is a constant struggle for survival for many families. The corona pandemic is making the situation even harder for families. In addition, hunger is rampant in the camps of those displaced within Syria. Most of the refugee children have never known anything other than the state of emergency!

In 2020, BRIGITTE and Save the Children have again initiated the fundraising campaign "Scarf for Life": Here you can either buy the wool package or the finished knitted scarf and automatically donate 10 euros to the Save the Children organization, which helps the displaced families and especially to the children. The refugees can only hope that the solidarity of the donors will not wane.
December 10th: What happened on the day of the action?
December 10th was Human Rights Day. On that day we wore the scarf for everything we did – on the way to work, when shopping, on the train or when walking. Many of you have shared a picture with the scarf on the social media channels under the hashtags #schalfuersleben or #hoffnunghaben or uploaded the photo to our photo tool on BRIGITTE.de! In the gallery above you can now find the pictures to look at.
