At this year’s Masters, it’s not just the presence of a few LIV Tour players that’s the talk of the town. There are also 3 well-known names for golf history:
Scheffler like Nicklaus once did?
World number 1 Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion. The American has already won 2 tournaments in the young season. Only 3 players were able to defend their title in Augusta: Tiger Woods (2001/02), Nick Faldo (1989/90) and Jack Nicklaus (1965/66).
Will McIlroy close the gap?
Rory McIlroy has won every major at least once… except the Masters. Last year, the Northern Irishman finished second better than ever. The current world number 2 would only be the 6th player to achieve the career Grand Slam.
What is Woods showing?
One of the 5 players in the Grand Slam club is Woods. The 47-year-old returned to the tour after his car accident at last year’s Masters. The American has only contested one tournament this year. Woods is familiar with miraculous comebacks in Augusta: in 2019 he won his 15th major after an 11-year break.
