A few hours after the publication of a report on the harmfulness of screens among young people, Emmanuel Macron announced that the government had one month to develop measures to reduce the exposure of young French people.
The government has one month to take measures from the report submitted by a commission mandated to study the use of screens and mobile phones among children and adolescents, Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday.
“Determining the proper use of screens for our children, at home and in class: this is the purpose of the report given to me by the committee of experts on the impact of young people’s exposure to screens that I had launched. I gave the government one month to examine its recommendations and translate them into action,” the head of state wrote on X.

The ten experts also portray social networks as “risk factors” for depression or anxiety in the event of “pre-existing vulnerability”, and consider the level of exposure of children to pornographic and violent content “alarming”. They therefore propose, for example, being able to give a smartphone without access to social networks from the age of 13 only, then to open this access from the age of 15, only on “ethical” networks.
