Sea of Thieves Season 7 is delayed and shifted to August

Sea of Thieves season 7 announced for July 21 is finally postponed for a few weeks. Indeed, the development studio Rare has announced that season 7 will now arrive on August 4.

This update, eagerly awaited by players, will allow them to become captains of a ship that they can also appoint. It was through a post on the studio’s blog that Rare explained this delay. The British studio wants to go from extra time working on polish and quality.

“As we got closer to the originally planned release date, it became clear that things were happening faster than we wanted and there was a real risk of not delivering the quality and polish that we wait, as well as putting undue pressure on the team to get everything ready […] We understand this will be disappointing for those of you eagerly awaiting this update, and we appreciate your patience with this change.”

As a reminder, the current season 6 started in March, as well the expectation of the fans is understandable. However, if the developers give themselves more time to avoid possible crunch, the choice of studio is just as understandable. This future season will be accompanied by a new adventure, A Hunter’s Crythe direct sequel to the Forsaken Hunter, which will be launched shortly after the start of the season, on August 18.

“Making Sea of Thieves work as an ongoing live experience is always a journey where we learn new things every day, but we will always consider what is the best course of action for both players and our development team. […] We believe that the decision to postpone this release is absolutely the right one to provide the best experience for all of you, while ensuring that we continue to operate with a healthy and sustainable approach.
