Despite the departure of Henry Cavill from the cast of the Netflix series The Witcher, three major actors are joining the show to play very emblematic characters from the books in season 4.
On paper, season 4 of the Netflix series The Witcher will address major events from the books by Polish novelist Andrzej Sapkowski. Very emblematic characters make their appearance. The Witcher series cast expands for season 4
For many fans disappointed by Netflix’s vision around The Witcher, the series ended in season 3 with the departure of Henry Cavill. A painful departure for the actor passionate about the original work, precisely because of a disagreement over its adaptation between the interpreter of Geralt of Rivia and the showrunners. However, the adventure must continue without him, and it is Liam Hemsworth who takes on the white hair, yellow eyes and two swords on his back.
An outcome all the sadder as season 4 will deal with extremely important events from the books. There we will find Ciri who must grow up alone and much too quickly to survive. She will have trouble with several strong and terribly dangerous characters in the novels. For those in the know, we’re talking about the terrifying bounty hunter Leo Bonhart and the dark Nilfgaardian spy Stefan Skellen, also known under the pseudonym “Howling Cat”. To play them on the small screen, Netflix has hired, according to Variety, respectively Sharlto Copley (District 9) and James Purefoy (Churchill). We therefore have two veteran and particularly talented actors to try to do justice to iconic characters from The Witcher universe.
Some strong allies in this dark world
Fortunately, there are not only bad guys in the universe of The Witcher (although…). Netflix has thus hired the services of Danny Woodburn (TMNT) to play the jovial dwarf Zoltan Chivay. One of Geralt’s best friends will therefore also have a solid interpreter. Zoltan will therefore join the colorful gang of Geralt, Jaskier, Yennefer and Ciri in season 4. The last three are still played in the series by Joey Batey, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.
Another strong ally will join the group in the next season of the Netflix series: Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy (or Regis for short). An important character in more than one way, who will be played by none other than the very charismatic Laurence Fishburne (Matrix). Will such a solid cast be supported by a narrative of the same ilk? Verdict normally at the beginning of 2025, although with some apprehension.
