Séché Environnement and Waga Energy start a biomethane production unit – 03/15/2024 at 09:58

(AOF) – Séché Environnement, a player in waste management and environmental services, and Waga Energy (specialist in the production of biomethane on waste storage sites) have started a production unit on the site of Opale Environnement (subsidiary of the Séché Environnement group), in Sainte-Marie-Kerque (Pas-de-Calais). Thanks to Wagabox technology, developed and patented by Waga Energy, this innovative equipment recovers the gas spontaneously emitted by buried waste in the form of biomethane, a renewable substitute for fossil natural gas.

Its production is injected directly into the local gas network to supply individuals and businesses.

The Wagabox unit in Sainte-Marie-Kerque can treat 800 cubic meters per hour and produce up to 35 GWh of biomethane per year (depending on the concentration of methane present in the raw gas), or the consumption of around 5,500 homes. It will avoid the use of fossil natural gas representing the emission of 5,800 tonnes of CO2 eq per year into the atmosphere.
