Between the approach of the trade union elections and the recent obtaining of the law of orientation and programming of the ministry for the Interior (Lopmi), the professional organizations of police officers prefer not to position themselves for a candidate or another. It was not the same in 2017.

A thick silence emanates from the police unions concerning the second round of the presidential election this Sunday. The four representative organizations, which obtained 90% of the votes in the last professional elections of the Ministry of the Interior, did not call to vote for Emmanuel Macron or Marine Le Pen. Or even called to vote at all.

The secretary general of the first police union, Unit SGP police (34.4% of the vote in 2018), Grégory Joron, did not respond to our requests. But questioned by Mediapart, his predecessor Yves Lefebvre explains one of the reasons for the union silence regarding the second round: “No union would today call for a vote against Le Pen, for fear of losing members.
