It all starts with a homicide investigation
The discovery of this trafficking began with a homicide investigation, said the same source, confirming information from the Sunday Journal. In mid-September, a 28-year-old man, shot and wounded, died in a street in Torcy. Beside him was a weapon. According to the JDD, it was in this weapon, which belonged to the victim, that the investigators found ammunition identical to theirs. These ammunition are specific because they must be traceable.
500 ammunition recovered
The two officials involved, a shooting instructor and administrative staff – the most involved – worked in Melun, where the distribution of ammunition is centralized for the department. About 500 ammunition was recovered during the search, said the same source. An “internal audit to overhaul the weapons management system” was carried out in the department, said another police source. First conducted by the judicial police of Versailles, the investigation was subsequently entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN, the “police of the police”).
