Nine men escaped from the Oissel administrative detention center in Seine-Maritime on Friday evening, breaking a wall. Since then, the alert has been triggered and research is still underway to find the individuals. An escape investigation has been opened.

Research was underway on Saturday to find nine men who escaped Friday evening from the administrative detention center (CRA) installed on the premises of a police school in Oissel (Seine-Maritime), we learned on Saturday from police sources. “The nine detainees escaped around 10:00 p.m. by breaking a wall,” said this police source, confirming information from the 76 Actu site.

“Difficult” searches

As soon as the alert was triggered, searches were launched, added this source, adding that the device was lifted overnight after the escapees could not be found. Friday evening, police officers from the Rouen police station came as reinforcements for the search. These resumed on Saturday morning and an escape investigation was opened. According to the police source, the wanted detainees are of Algerian and Tunisian nationalities.

The escape would have occurred in the premises of the CRA, belonging to the police academy, installed on the site, where police students had remained on site for the weekend. The prefect of Seine-Maritime Pierre-André Durand and the zone director of the border police went on site.

Saturday afternoon, the police source spoke of “difficult” research because of the situation of the CRA, on the edge of the forest, according to a police source. A volunteer from the CRA Oissel visitor network and citizen observatory confirmed the escape of nine people without having more information at this stage. Considered to be dilapidated, the Rouen-Oissel CRA was the subject in 2018 of a report by Cimade, which works with foreigners. In this document, the association confirmed the obsolescence of the Oissel CRA.
