A man was in cardio-respiratory arrest on Wednesday evening after exchanges of fire with the police who intervened in Noisy-le-Grand following the triggering of a “serious danger telephone”, a device to protect victims of domestic violence, we learned AFP from police sources.

Shortly before 8 p.m., “a woman looked through the peephole in her door and saw her ex, she triggered the ‘serious danger telephone'”, reported a police source. “The police had to use their administrative weapon after being the target of gunfire from the perpetrator,” according to another police source.

The man was shot and was in cardio-respiratory arrest, according to the first police source. One of the officials was shot in the forearm, according to these sources.

“Support for the police,” replies Nuñez

“Support for the police officers who intervened following the triggering of a woman’s telephone in very great danger, who had to retaliate, after being the target of gunfire, in Noisy-le-Grand”, declared on X (ex -Twitter) Laurent Nuñez, police prefect on whom the departments in the inner suburbs of Paris depend.

The “Severe Danger Phone” includes a pre-programmed emergency call button that triggers a rapid response by law enforcement. It is granted by the courts to women victims of domestic violence.

The system, tested since 2009 in Seine-Saint-Denis, was generalized in 2014 to the rest of France, where nearly 5,000 telephones are now deployed. According to the latest report published by the Ministry of the Interior, 118 feminicides were recorded in 2022.
