Austria mourns one of its moderator legends: Josef “Sepp” Forcher died at the age of 91. The broadcaster ORF announced this now.

Only last year Josef “Sepp” Forcher withdrew from the TV world. The Austrian presenter died on December 19th at the age of 91. The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) announced this on its homepage. Forcher achieved notoriety in his home country primarily through the program “Klingendes Österreich”.

Sepp Forcher withdrew from the media in 2020

The legendary presenter was born in Rome in 1930, but grew up in South Tyrol. At that time he was still called Guiseppe Forcher. In 1940 he moved to Salzburg with his family. After working as a mountaineer and mineral seeker, Forcher finally moved to the radio. For the ORF he moderated the programs “Ins Land einischaun” and “Mit’m Sepp into the weekend”, among other things. In 1986 he finally switched to television. His big breakthrough came with the program “Klingendes Österreich”.
