A serious accident occurred on Friday afternoon in St. Johann in Tirol. A cyclist was seriously injured. The woman (75) had been hit and run over by a heavy vehicle.
The terrible accident happened around 2 p.m. in the municipality of St. Johann. According to initial findings, the 75-year-old wanted to push her bike past a truck. The driver of the heavy vehicle apparently overlooked this and drove off. The local cyclist was hit by a front tire of the heavy vehicle and rolled over in the leg area. Emergency medical team, fire brigade and police moved out. The seriously injured were flown to the clinic by helicopter. The severely shocked truck driver had to be looked after by a crisis intervention team. Further investigations into the cause of the accident are in progress.
