A local (57) met a nice younger man (31) some time ago in a sauna club in Innsbruck. But the supposed friend was up to no good, according to the police. The Romanian is said to have brought tens of thousands of euros to the 57-year-old with maudlin stories.
The investigators speak of serious fraud. Around 50,000 euros are gone. It is said that the Romanian lured the Austrian out of the money within two years.
The suspect shamelessly took advantage of the good nature and helpfulness of the 57-year-old. He kept telling his friend about family disasters that could only be averted with money. The local fell for it over and over again. But now the scam was exposed.
