A serious alpine accident happened Thursday afternoon in Vils im Ausserfern. A couple (70 and 74) were on their way down to the valley after doing woodwork in the forest. The 70-year-old woman slipped and fell 80 meters over rocky terrain.
On the so-called Zwischenberg near Vils, the couple carried out woodwork together. Shortly before 1 p.m., the Ausserferner made their way back down into the valley. It happened: The woman slipped on leaves and fell 80 meters. At the foot of the slope, the 70-year-old was seriously injured. The man called the rescue service. The seriously injured was rescued by the emergency helicopter and flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
