Several buried victims – avalanche in Tyrol claims a fatality

In an avalanche in Zams in the Tyrolean Oberland, there were several buried people on Saturday afternoon. A total of six people were likely to have been hit by the snow masses in a steep gully. Unfortunately, according to the police, there is also one fatality. Two other people were injured.

As the control center in Tyrol described to the “Krone”, the avalanche erupted around 12 noon in the open ski area on the Venet near Zams (Landeck district) in the steep terrain. A caller initially spoke of seven buried people. According to the police, six people are likely to have been hit by a slab. The executive confirmed to the “crown” that there was a fatality. Two other people were injured, three apparently escaped with the horror. The two injured – they are likely to be teenagers – were flown to the hospital. The accident apparently occurred near the so-called Weinberg run away from the secured slopes – in a steep gully.
