  • Construction workers have agreed to the new state framework agreement (LMV).
  • Builders and trade unions had agreed on this in nine rounds of negotiations.
  • If the master builders’ association says yes, then nothing stands in the way of the contract.

The majority of the delegated construction workers agreed to the new LMV at the construction conferences in Bern and Olten, as the unions Unia and Syna announced on Saturday. A new LMV is in the interest of the entire industry, they argued.

However, several delegates criticized the fact that the wage increase was not higher in view of the construction boom and the rising cost of living. In addition, they would have called for further improvements with regard to the increasing deadline and time pressure on the construction sites.

150 francs more per month

If the master builders also agree to the contract on January 13, construction workers will receive an additional 150 francs a month in wages. In addition, the minimum wage will be increased by CHF 100 per month. Those were the key points of the agreement reached at the end of November. The contract is to be concluded for three years.

For several weeks, the master builders’ association and trade unions sought an agreement for a new state contract. There were also rallies: According to the Unia and Syna unions, around 15,000 construction workers across Switzerland took to the streets from October 17th to reaffirm their demands for a new LMV.
