This hairstyle was the “worst mistake” of her life

Singer Shakira reckons with her hairstyle and admits that one particular look was a wrong decision.
Long mane, casual curls – that’s how singer Shakira, 44, is known. However, the Colombian pop-rock singer has not always worn her hair that way. Some time ago, the singer took advice from someone else – but according to the singer, that doesn’t seem like a good idea.
Shakira: Your mother-in-law advised you badly
In an interview with British Vogue, she reveals that she’s been wrong in terms of fashion and looks. For example, she wore a blonde bob with steps in Cannes in 2012. A look that in retrospect she absolutely doesn’t seem to like: “The worst mistake of my life,” she says about it. Her mother-in-law, Montserrat Bernabeu, recommended the hairstyle to her at the time. She advised her to cut off her hair because the tips were so broken. Not a good idea – as it turned out in the end. Because since then, Shakira has not accepted any advice from her mother-in-law.

From blonde to pink
Incidentally, the singer is currently wearing her hair in a reddish brown tone, before that she had dyed her mane in a bright pink. Admittedly, this look is also special and maybe she will think very differently about this in a few years. It is not clear whether her mother-in-law also had a hand in this. Before that, the 44-year-old had experimented less with her hair color. Except for different shades of blonde and brown, her look hasn’t changed very much in the past. Quite the opposite: It feels like Shakira still looks like it did in the music video for “Whenever, Wherever” (2001). It doesn’t matter whether you have pink hair, light highlights or a blonde bob – your look remains unmistakable.
