Shannen Doherty has good news: The actress, who has been battling cancer for years, calls it a “miracle.”

Shannen Doherty (52) gave her fans a health update. The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star, who has been battling cancer for years, shared some good news. According to US media reports, the 52-year-old explained in a podcast that a new treatment plan had brought positive results.

“For me this is just a miracle”

“After four treatments, we didn’t really see any difference and everyone wanted me to switch,” she told radiation oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi in a new episode of the podcast “Let’s Be Informative…”. “But I thought to myself: ‘We’ll carry on like this and see.’ After the sixth and seventh treatments, we actually saw that the blood-brain barrier was broken.” For Shannen Doherty, this was the result she was hoping for. “Do I call this a miracle? To me this is a miracle right now,” she said. “I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘Let’s move on.'”

She also said of her “miracle” that “maybe God will step in and say, ‘I’ll give her a break’.” She added: “Sometimes you look for miracles in the wrong places and they are right in front of you.”

First cancer in 2015

The actress has been battling breast cancer since 2015, which has since led to metastases. In 2017, she announced that the disease was under control. In 2020 she announced that she had cancer again, this time at a more advanced and therefore incurable stage. In June 2023, she told the public that she had metastases in her brain, She announced in a “People” interview in November 2023that the cancer had also attacked her bones.

But Doherty tries to stay positive, as she also said in the podcast: “Every day is a gift and there are so many new things in the works that I think there is always hope.”
