Shannen Doherty has been battling cancer for years. She expressed her admiration for Kate on Instagram after her cancer announcement.

The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress Shannen Doherty (52) has on Instagram the supporters for Princess Kate (42) after their cancer diagnosis connected. In her posting, the US actress first addressed the public treatment of Kate: “Being a public person does not mean that the public owns that person,” wrote Doherty, who is battling cancer herself, in her post. “We all have the right to live through an illness or a life privately.”

The onslaught of “conspiracy theories, possessiveness and simple, morbid curiosity” forced Kate to explain herself “before she had come to terms with it and explained it to her children,” emphasized Doherty, noticeably upset. “I pray that we all learn from this to respect the privacy of others, regardless of whether we are in the public eye.” In the end, she addressed words directly to Prince William’s (41) wife: “And Princess Kate, I admire your strength during the endless attacks you were subjected to during your cancer.”

Shannen Doherty’s battle with cancer

The actress has been battling breast cancer since 2015, which has since led to metastases. In 2017, she announced that the disease was under control. In 2020 she announced that she had cancer again, this time at a more advanced and therefore incurable stage. In June 2023, she told the public that metastases had formed in her brain. In November 2023, she announced in a “People” interviewthat the cancer had also attacked her bones.

In January 2024, according to US media reports, the 52-year-old explained in a podcast that a new treatment plan had brought positive results. Doherty continues to try to stay positive, as she also said on the podcast: “Every day is a gift and there are so many new things in the works that I think there is always hope.”
