Shannen Doherty (52) received a standing ovation from fans moved to tears, according to People. The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress took questions from the audience at a 90’s Con in Tampa, Florida. Doherty came to the event with many colleagues from the 90s cult series: Tori Spelling (50), Jason Priestley (54), Jennie Garth (51) and Ian Ziering (59), among others, were there.

Towards the end of the question period, the audience rose to their feet and applauded Doherty for opening up about her battle with breast cancer. “Thank you very much,” she called out to the audience. “You know how much I love crying all the time. And I do now, it seems. So, thank you.”

Shannen Doherty is suffering from stage four breast cancer. In June of this year, the actress posted a video in which she said that the cancer had already metastasized to the brain. She also showed images of a CT scan from January 2022.

Breast cancer returned in 2010

Shannen Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. After she had both breasts removed, the disease initially seemed to have been overcome. But in 2020 the cancer returned. Doherty decided early on to openly discuss her illness in order to encourage other sufferers. “It’s not about being a warrior or a survivor. It’s about continuing to live and grow with cancer,” she wrote October 2020 on Instagram.

In 1990, Shannen Doherty became a star almost overnight with “Beverly Hills, 90210.” She couldn’t cope with fame and was fired from the series in 1994 following scandals. From 1998 she took on one of the main roles in another cult series, “Charmed”. In 2019 she was part of the new edition of “Beverly Hills, 90120”.

Next up for Doherty is her own podcast. As she revealed at the 90s fair, she wants to talk about her scandalous past in a nice way in “Let’s Be Clear”.
