A little oversized (310 x 630 x 268 mm) to put it in your living room, the Sharp SumoBox CP-LS100 is intended more for professionals wishing to sound a room for a concert or a sports lesson. Powerful, it is above all intended to be versatile and intends to meet the needs of professionals in all situations.
Power and quality
On the menu of this 12.55 kg speaker are two 8” woofers and two 2” tweeters offering an RMS power of 120 W. Not limited to big sound, the SumoBox also relies on acoustic quality, counting on its angular solid wood design. To delight the ears of its audience, this SumoBox is the first loudspeaker of the brand to use the SAM® (Speaker Active Matching) technologies of the French Devialet, a duo that is proving to be promising.
For larger rooms, it will be possible to pair two speakers via Bluetooth to obtain a stereo rendering or several speakers in series via the dedicated inputs and outputs. The speaker is also controllable remotely through the SharpLife companion app.
Designed for versatility
Like any self-respecting professional wireless speaker, the SumoBox features generous connectivity, with two TSR/XLR combo inputs for connecting microphones or certain instruments, and a minijack auxiliary input. Several potentiometers allow you to independently adjust the volume, bass, treble and reverb of the three inputs.
In terms of autonomy, the SumoBox is based on a battery offering 10 hours of use. If that’s not enough, the latter is removable and can be replaced in seconds. Obviously, Sharp also offers the possibility of using the speaker on the mains to overcome all these constraints.
Finally, this big baby weighing more than 12 kg is handled using the handles placed on the sides and can be placed on a tripod, or any other support, thanks to the standard 35 mm mounting.
Price and availability
Before renewing its equipment, it will be necessary to wait until September for the SumoBox CP-LS100 from Sharp to hit the shelves. Proposed at the indicative price of 399 €, it will be good, if necessary, to add some additional batteries whose price has not been communicated to us.
