Shazam will finally have a feature that many have been waiting for. This new feature, announced in the latest app update on the App Store, allows you to use Shazam to find the name of a song you hear on YouTube, TikTok or any other app, without having to unplug your headphones.

How it works is simple: you launch the app, tap the headphone icon on the screen, then go to the app where the song is playing. Shazam listens to the song through your headphones and tries to identify it. You will then be able to see the name of the song on the application interface.

Shazam gets even smarter with this feature

The feature works with all types of headphones, whether wired or wireless, and whether made by Apple or other brands. It is therefore not necessary to own a pair of AirPods to use this feature.

It also works with almost any app that plays music, although there may be some exceptions. Note also that the function does not interfere with the normal operation of Shazam, which can still listen to the songs broadcast in your environment.

Headphone listening feature is also available for Android userssince the app’s overview page on the Google Play Store has been updated to include a line mentioning the new feature.

However, it is not yet known whether this feature will also be available for Shazam on macOS, the version of the application that works on Apple computers. According to the Mac App Store listing, Shazam’s last update on Mac was in August 2022, an eternity in the digital world. It is therefore possible that the macOS version of the application will not receive this new functionality, which should then become exclusive to mobiles. However, we will have to wait for official information from Shazam to be sure.
