The app Shazam offers a new functionality, to invite itself… into your headphones!
The Shazam application was yesterday, and yet the application was launched for the first time in 2002, more than twenty years ago. The service quickly demonstrated its magic, with a stunning music recognition tool. Since 2017, Shazam has been an integral part of Apple, after a $400 million buyout.
New for Shazam (at 22 years old)
Obviously, over the years, the Shazam application has been refined, and it has been expanded with new features and optimizations of all kinds. Recently, an update marked the arrival of a “ concert mode », allowing you to discover upcoming concerts in our geographic area. Today, an update optimizes the application’s music recognition functions.
In fact, Shazam is now able to identify music broadcast directly through headphones. It is therefore possible to find the name of a song broadcast on your smartphone, the sound of which is sent directly to your ears from headphones, wired or not.
In this way, the detection of songs coming from another application is expanded, and is therefore no longer limited to speaker mode alone.
Music recognition also in our headphones
This will make it possible to easily identify a song heard on Instagram or TikTok, without having to remove your headphones or earphones. Shazam specifies that this functionality will be automatic, and that the application will be able to identify songs broadcast outside the headphones, without any prior action on the part of the user.
Even though Shazam fell into Apple’s portfolio a few years ago, the application is obviously available on iOS, but also on Android, with a range of identical features.
With its new functionality compatible (among others) with Instagram and TikTok, Shazam should continue to delight users of all ages. In May 2022, during its twentieth anniversary, the application claimed more than 2 billion installations, and 70 billion shazams.
