Year after year, Nvidia continues to update its Shield TV streaming boxes. The company has just launched its firmware Shield Experience 9.0, a 27th update that offers, among other things, a switch to Android TV 11.
As attention shifts more and more towards sustainable products, it’s important to let people know when a manufacturer is offering great things in this area. This is particularly the case of Nvidia, which provides exemplary software monitoring with its Shield TV multimedia boxes. Released in 2015, renewed in 2017 then in 2019, these boxes dedicated to multimedia streaming and video games have their software continually updated.
The 27th update is called Shield Experience 9.0. The major novelty lies in the presence of the latest version of Google’s operating system, Android TV 11. This version natively integrates the Google TV interface, already used for about a year on Shield TV – but in the form of a separate module –, and brings its share of evolutions of all kinds, such as the native integration of the Google Gboard keyboard. In bulk, we also note the appearance of new options related to energy management, Stadia support (new gamepads supported) or even expanded support for 4K videos in Dolby Vision or Atmos.
Nvidia takes the opportunity to point out that the Shield TVs support the GeForce Now service up to 4K with HDR image and sound in 7.1 – the other connected platforms having to settle for Full HD streams.
The Shield Experience 9.0 update is now available for download on Shield TVs. This concerns both the first generation (2015) and the second (2017) and third (2019) boxes. Remarkable!
