Shipwreck off the Lebanese port of Tripoli-Al Djadid TV


April 23 (Reuters) – A boat carrying around 60 people sank off Lebanon’s port of Tripoli on Saturday, Al Djadid TV reported, citing the Lebanese Red Cross.

The Lebanese government said in a statement that Prime Minister Najib Mikati was monitoring the sinking of a passenger boat that left illegally from southern Tripoli.

Al Djadid said ambulances had been dispatched to the scene of the sinking without giving further details.
