Shipwrecked for 2 months, this sailor and his dog found alone in the middle of the Pacific Ocean: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

The story is eventful, can make you seasick… But luckily ends well. On Monday July 17, several Australian media, including 9News Australiarelayed this incredible news, in particular on Twitter. A 51-year-old man, Tim Shaddoc, and his dog Bella spent three months adrift, victim of a capricious sea on the waters of the Pacific Ocean. They left in April 2023 aboard their catamaran. It was only Wednesday July 12, 2023 that they were found by a Mexican tuna trawler (a boat specializing in fishing). The two accomplices had initially left from a beach town in Mexico called La Paz. Their plan was to travel 6,000 km to reach French Polynesia. Besides, Tim Shaddoc was a sailor. So it wasn’t a lack of skill that led him and Bella to drift, but the stormy weather and very rough seas. The rough sailing conditions damaged their boat to the point of all their electronic equipment totally out of order.

How did man survive, without food reserves?

The sailor and his sidekick survived on a very limited diet of raw fish and rainwater. Tim Shaddoc indeed only had fishing equipment to try to feed himself. At present, if the man was logically appeared emaciatedthe shaggy beard, the skin burned by the sun and the face emaciated by these long months of drift, he assures himself to be in very good health. “I went through a very difficult ordeal at sea, I just need rest and good food because it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten, I’ve been alone at sea for a long time. Otherwise, I’m in very good health and I have very good medication, they take care of me very well”, he explained to 9News. Bella and he should be brought back to Mexico quickly. There, the sailor can again, if necessary, benefit from medical care. The story doesn’t say, though, like in the movie Alone in the worldwhose castaway is interpreted by the famous Tom Hanks, the return to civilization will be complicated.
