Shock in Mayrhofen – child got stuck with finger in bathtub drain


Shock around a two-year-old child on Saturday evening in the Zillertal! While bathing, the girl reached into the drain with her index finger, middle finger and ring finger and got stuck. With the help of the fire brigade, the little one was freed. Fortunately, she was only slightly injured.

Shortly before 5.30 p.m. the toddler reached into the drain while bathing in a bathtub in Mayrhofen and could no longer be freed without aids. “The parents present immediately started the rescue chain,” the police said.

The Mayrhofen volunteer fire brigade was able to cut the drain from the bathtub an hour later with technical aids and hand the child over to the rescue. “In the emergency vehicle, the entire drain could be removed from the child’s fingers,” explains the executive. The two-year-old was slightly injured in the accident and brought to the Innsbruck clinic for observation.
