While the glam rock cult band KISS is currently on their farewell tour, Netflix is planning “Shoud It Out Loud”, a film that deals with the beginnings of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Co.

“Love Gun”, “Rock and Roll All Night”, “Detroit Rock City” – the list of KISS greatest hits is long. Now, after 50 years of band history, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer are on a farewell tour, which is likely to result in a severe drop in sales for make-up manufacturers.
Netflix is now celebrating the end of their music career with their own film about the band, which is scheduled for release in 2024. The film has already found a director in Joachim Rønning (“Maleficent: Powers of Darkness”) and the title is already set: “Shout It Out Loud”.
KISS isn’t the first glam metal band to be honored with a biopic by Netflix. “The Dirt”, a film about Mötley Crüe, was released in 2019, but it quickly disappeared from streaming. Will “Shout It Out Loud” fare better?
In any case, the KISS film is not intended to be a chronicle of the band’s history, instead it focuses on the beginnings in the seventies in New York. It is not yet known who will slip into the impressive costumes of Starchild, Demon, Spaceman and Catman.
A film about KISS was already being discussed in 2021, and Paul Stanley said in an interview with Download in relation to the casting question:
To ensure casting is age accurate, we are looking for actors who are in their early 20s. To be honest, I don’t know many actors who are in their early 20s. When you ask people these kinds of questions, they say, ‘Oh, Brad Pitt,’ or this or that. Well, these people are in their 50s or 60s, so you’re talking about a different generation of actors. And I’ll be the first to say that I don’t know a lot of them.

Stanley added that he’s still very interested in the casting process. This is how he finds out how he is perceived by other people, be it the director or the casting agency. We’ll find out if fans will be happy with the cast in 2024 when “Shout It Out Loud” lands on Netflix’s New Arrivals program.
