After the success of “Puss in Boots 2” at the box office, DreamWorks Animation announces a “Shrek 5”.
The end of Puss in Boots 2: the last quest announced it, it’s now official: Shrek will be back for a fifth opus!
In full promotion of Super Mario Bros, the film, Chris Meledandri, president of Illumination Studios and creative partner of DreamWorks Animation spoke with variety and announced that the studio will relaunch the Shrek saga, 22 years after Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson’s first film.
The latter specifies that the original voice cast, composed of Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona) and Eddie Murphy (The donkey), should be back.
“We are planning for the actors to return. We are at the beginning of the discussions but according to the latest information the actors are very enthusiastic about the idea of returning.ir,” he said.

After the success of Puss in Boots 2 (which to date has grossed over $478 million at the international box office), Eddie Murphy said : “If DreamWorks offers me another Shrek, I accept in two seconds. I love the donkey. When they made a film about Puss in Boots, I said to myself that they should have made a film about the donkey. He’s funnier than Potté. I love it but the donkey is more fun.”

Chris Meledandri reacted to the actor’s comment by stating that a spin-off centered on the character of the donkey would “definitely” be possible.
Released 10 years after the first film, Puss in Boots 2 proved to the studio that viewers were still there and were happy to see the characters back.

At the end of the feature film, Potté boards a ship with Kitty and Perro and sails to the Pays Fort Fort Lointain. In Shrek 5, the 3 friends should therefore find the Green Ogre, Fiona and the Donkey for a new adventure which will take place more than 13 years after Shrek 4, there was an end.
So far, the Shrek franchise has grossed $4 billion internationally.
